Dog hobble (Leucothoe fontanesiana) is an evergreen shrub native to the southeastern United States. It typically grows 3-6 feet tall and wide, with arching branches covered in leathery, lance-shaped leaves that turn reddish-bronze in winter. In late spring, it produces clusters of small, fragrant white flowers. Preferring moist, well-drained acidic soils and partial to full shade, dog hobble is often used in shady gardens and naturalized areas for ground cover. Its dense foliage provides excellent habitat for wildlife. The plant gets its name because its dense thickets can be difficult for dogs and other animals to navigate through.

Size: 3 gallon 4'-5' in height
